Currently lives and works in London and Surrey.
Ziggy Kolker is an artist and senior lecturer on BA(Hons) Photography at the University of Portsmouth. Her research interests lie in the evolving ontology of the computer-generated image and how this can be situated within the photographic tradition.
This work has directly informed her teaching practice and Ziggy has introduced and embedded CGI and other virtual photography modules into all Levels of the BA Photography degree course. The first photography course in the UK to do this.
She completed her MA in Photography with a Distinction at LCC, University of the Arts London and has since exhibited extensively, participating in group shows at the Aperture Gallery, NY, The National Portrait Gallery, London, Musee de l’Elysee, Lausanne and “Voies Off”, Arles. In 2012 she was selected to present work at the Hyeres International Fashion and Photography Festival. Publications include ‘reGeneration: Tomorrow’s Photographers Today’ (Thames and Hudson), ‘Why Art Photography?’ by Lucy Soutter (Routledge) and 'Rethinking Photography' by P.Smith and C. Leffley (Routledge).
Ziggy has taught at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, on the BA (Hons) Digital Animation and Interactive Design course at Bucks New University, and is currently a Senior Lecturer on the BA(Hons.) Photography degree course at the University of Portsmouth.
Commercial clients include Time Magazine, NY and Wallpaper* Magazine.
